Stay safe

Rebel/Entra is legally required to inform you, as a tenant, about the requirements that apply to the use of the building, and with all the features of the structure that are significant for fire safety. Some of the requirements that the law imposes on users of buildings are:
• You must provide fire safety training (and all workers are obliged to participate in it).
• You must set goals and implement plans and measures to reduce the risk of fire.
• You must have procedures for evacuation and rescue in case of fire.
Important duties include ensuring that your own business has:
• Procedures that ensure you use the building in accordance with the requirements for fire safety of the structure.
• Procedures for training and information sharing to prevent and fight fire.
• Procedures for evacuation and rescue in case of fire, including the rescue of persons in your premises who may need assistance.
• Procedures to detect, correct, and prevent deficiencies in the systematic safety work.
• Procedures that ensure you inform Rebel about decay and damages in the building or safety devices that can affect safety against fire.
... and also that you:
• Ensure that escape routes are not blocked. This includes both a prohibition against placing objects or other obstacles in the escape routes and a duty to remove obstacles in the escape routes.
• Ensure that the business has procedures for evacuation and rescue in case of fire, and also that external visitors to the business are provided with sufficient information about these during their stay in the building.
• Contact Rebel before undertaking any structural fitting works.
Fire Safety Instructions
In the event of a fire (or alarm), please adhere to the following fire safety instructions:
Alert the Authorities:
If you observe flames or smoke, promptly activate the fire alarm by pressing the red emergency button, if not already activated, and dial the fire department at 110.
Immediate Evacuation:
During evacuation: use all staircases when evacuating from the floors to prevent congestion. Familiarize yourself with all emergency exits from your offices.
Commence evacuation immediately upon hearing the fire alarm. Assist individuals in need of help in exiting the premises.
Zone Responsibilities:
(Deputy) zone authorities should promptly execute their duties while wearing a visibly marked vest.
Assembly Point Confirmation:
Upon evacuation, the assembly point is at St. Olavs Plass, at the corner of Edderkoppen Hotel, or alternatively, at Pilestredet 1.Emergency Reporting:
If you suspect individuals are still inside the building or if you have other critical information to report, immediately report to a member of staff Rebel og fire department.
Elevator Usage:
The elevator will automatically descend to the 1st floor during a fire alarm and must not be utilized. Do not re-enter the building until authorized.
Return Procedures:
When the fire department has approved it, it is safe to re-enter the building.
Evacuation plans are found on each floor. For your safety, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with it.
-
It is the responsibility of each individual to familiarize themselves with escape routes and fire extinguishing equipment, as well as emergency exits in accordance with the escape instructions. All tenants must have their own fire responsible persons per floor/zone. Anyone who discovers a fire or suspicious smoke must immediately activate the fire alarm (red box). When the fire alarm is activated, everyone must leave the building calmly and orderly.
Elevators cannot be used during a fire evacuation. If you are in an elevator at the time, it will go to floor U1 where you can follow the signs to your nearest emergency exit.
-
The building is equipped with a comprehensive fire alarm system. The fire alarm is automatically triggered when smoke is detected by smoke detectors.
Fire can also be manually reported by pressing manual fire alarms (small, red box, see picture) located at exit doors on each floor. Manual alarms always trigger a full alarm, with direct notification to the Fire Department.
-
The building is equipped with an automatic extinguishing/sprinkler system and fire hose cabinets. This covers all floors. The sprinkler system is an automatic fire extinguishing system for the protection of buildings, goods, and personnel.
-
The building is equipped with fire hoses on each floor. All fire fighting equipment is marked with photoluminescent arrow signs.
The fire hoses are 30 meters long and are placed in a drum inside their own cabinets. Open the cabinet by pulling out the handle and opening the valve inside the cabinet. Grab the nozzle and pull out the hose by turning the outer part of the nozzle. Spray towards the center of the flame.
-
The building is equipped with automatically controlled pressure relief windows that open upon local detection.
Furniture or other items must not be placed directly in front of these windows, obstructing them when the windows open. The picture shows an example of a pressure relief window in the open position.
-
From each floor (17-4), there is an escape via 2 stairwells down to level 1. See also emergency escape plans found on each floor. The building is equipped with emergency/leading light systems that "show the way" to exits in case of fire.
-
The defibrillator is located near the fire panel in the main entrance close to the coffee bar (Rebel's main entrance on Universitetsgata).
HSE (Health, safety environment)
Rebel aims to be Norway's most important arena for the sharing and development of technology competence.
Therefore, the purpose of Rebel U2 AS is to facilitate and create a meeting place for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and problem-solving across businesses and organizations. Rebel rents out office spaces and assists with premises and catering for event organizers, seminars, courses, and meetings.
We want to emphasize the importance of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) for all tenants and inform you about the HSE requirements.
Please report any deviations to HMS@rebel.no or via www.rebel.no/alert.
-
Tenants are responsible for staying informed about the current HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) requirements in Rebel at all times. Furthermore, tenants are themselves responsible for communicating this information to their employees in the company, so that everyone is aware of the necessary health, environmental, and safety procedures as well as fire safety measures. This includes ensuring that the employees are aware of emergency exits, fire extinguishing equipment, and other relevant HSE aspects that may affect their safety and well-being on the premises.
-
Deviations or errors must be recorded and managed to ensure safe, stable, and efficient operations. All tenants must be familiar with the procedures for incident reporting. Please report any deviations to HMS@rebel.no or via www.rebel.no/alert. This includes, but is not limited to, deviations related to fire safety, fire outbreaks, short circuits, smoke development, blocking of escape routes, access control, and reporting of inappropriate individuals on the property.
-
The defibrillator is located near the fire panel in the main entrance close to the coffee bar (Rebel's main entrance on Universitetsgata).

Tenants at Rebel are responsible for electrical safety as an essential part of their HSE work to ensure a safe environment for employees and visitors. This responsibility includes adhering to guidelines and regularly conducting internal controls to prevent fires, electric shocks, and other electrical incidents. All electrical equipment should be kept in good condition, overloading should be avoided, and any damage should be reported immediately. Repairs must always be carried out by qualified personnel.
Internal Controls for Electrical Safety
• Regular Inspections: Check equipment for visible damage, wear, or signs of malfunction.
• Minimize Extension Cord Use: Prefer fixed installations, as extension cords may lead to overloading.
• Stay Vigilant: Watch for discoloration, unusual smells, or sounds that may indicate overheating, and report these immediately.
• Organized Fuse Boxes: Fuse boxes should remain locked, accessible, and organized for quick access when needed.
• Safe Use of Heaters and Kitchen Appliances: Heaters must remain uncovered, and kitchen appliances like kettles and coffee makers should be connected to timers to reduce risk.
Documentation and Reporting Regularly update inspection, repair, and maintenance logs. All employees should be familiar with the routines for reporting issues and have clear instructions on how to follow up on reported problems.
Electrical safety requires close cooperation between tenants and the building’s HSE manager, and maintenance should always be carried out by certified personnel. A proactive approach to HSE and electrical safety ensures a safer work environment for everyone involved.
Building utilities
-
The building is equipped with a group of 4 elevators. You select the floor using a card inside the elevator. If you enter an elevator that is going down, all selections are reset at the bottom, and you will need to press the floor button again.
All elevators are equipped with two-way communication. If the elevator stops, by holding the alarm button for about 10 seconds, you will make contact with the alarm center, which will provide assistance shortly. In case of a fire alarm, the elevators will descend to the 1st floor.
-
The building has an energy monitoring system that tracks the energy usage day by day. This way, we can quickly notice any changes in consumption and take necessary actions if needed.
-
Motion sensors are installed in all zones and rooms. If a room is not in use, the lights will automatically turn off after 20 minutes. This way, unnecessary energy consumption for lighting is avoided. The meeting rooms are equipped with a dimming function, while the common areas do not have this feature.
Please refrain from disconnecting the spotlights in your offices and moving them around. It is crucial to note that fixtures that are moved are not properly installed and therefore do not connect with the Dali/KNX control system. When spotlights are disconnected, the address in the system is released. This means that when we replace a defective spotlight, the address becomes automatically available. This can lead to incorrect grouping. In cases where we detect such situations, tenants may be charged for any costs associated with this.
-
The wireless switch for the sun protection is internet-connected. So, it might take a few seconds (1-4 seconds) from when you press the switch until the sun protection films (multifilm) start moving.
Here's how the sun protection is set up:
If the sun shines on the sensor for 2 minutes, the roller blind will automatically lower (triggered at 25klux of light).
If there's no sun on the sensor for 30 minutes, the roller blind will automatically raise again (triggered at 15klux of light).
Note: When you manually press the switch, the automatic system for the screen turns off for 4 hours.
Important: For a comfortable indoor environment, it's best to keep the sun protection down when the sun is shining on the building. Using the switch can change the temperature inside the building.
Battery Information:
Batteries last between 3 to 5 years.
A light (DIODE) will show the battery status.
We recommend replacing all batteries in the system at once, either for entire floors or the entire building.
User guide here (in Norwegian).

The ventilation system in office spaces are turned off after 18:00. If you require ventilation during the evening, please contact service@rebel.no. Remember to specify where you are sitting and for how long you will need ventilation.
-
We place a high emphasis on waste sorting, and the building is equipped with a centralized waste room located on the U1 level.
Check out the waste sorting guide! (in Norwegian)
It is crucial for everyone to properly sort their waste according to the provided guidelines. Our objective is to keep non-recyclable waste to a minimum and achieve a sorting rate of at least 70%.
For waste such as furniture, building materials, hazardous substances, or any unusually large quantities, users are responsible for disposing of these items at an authorized facility. Alternatively, disposal can be arranged directly through Ragn Sells.
If you have any questions regarding waste management, please feel free to contact us.
-
A dedicated water meter is installed to measure the water consumption of the entire building. The water usage is monitored by the building's SD (System Dynamics) system. Several measures have been taken to reduce water consumption in the building, such as installing water-saving taps and toilets.
To ensure high safety against accidental water damage, an automatic water shut-off has been installed in the toilet cores when the building/floor is not in use.
Additionally, a UV-based water treatment system, the Enwa AOP type, has been installed. This system manages bacterial growth and legionella in the potable water. This saves energy as it eliminates the need for extremely high-temperature legionella flushing in the plumbing system.

Rebel Share
Rebel Share is a collaborative community initiative where knowledge is exchanged freely among participants through themed events hosted by companies at Rebel.
It's built on the principle that sharing expertise not only benefits the individual but also amplifies the collective know-how. Participants are encouraged to contribute their insights and in return, gain valuable perspectives from others.
The concept is structured around events where rebels come together to present and discuss ideas. The environment is designed to be open and interactive, with a focus on learning rather than selling. Rebel provides the space, basic tech, and coaching to facilitate these knowledge-sharing sessions.
In essence, Rebel Share is about creating a community of learning and growth, where sharing is not just encouraged but institutionalized as a key value.
The subject matter can be …anything! Previous Rebel Shares have focused on everything from AI, via mental health to the Tolkien universe pre the LOTR trilogy.
You can host a Rebel Share session as a company, in collaboration with other companies or on your own. Get in contact with us, tell us about your idea, and we’ll provide you with a stage.
Hosting a Rebel Share is free, but we encourage you to serve some light refreshments and food to participants.

Rebel's Eleven
The Rebel's Eleven initiative is a networking and collaborative platform designed for different job roles, based on the Rebel ethos of active knowledge exchange, collaboration, and problem-solving.
Recognizing that people across various backgrounds, company sizes, and industries face similar challenges, the initiative aims to bring these individuals together to leverage collective intelligence: The Rebel hive mind.
The core idea is that by forming networks of approximately eleven like-minded individuals, these 'rebels' can meet regularly to discuss and delve into issues pertinent to their shared experiences. The initiative is flexible, allowing each group to set their own agenda, frequency, timing, and duration of meetings.
In essence, "Rebel's Eleven" is about creating a dynamic and supportive environment where people can grow and learn from each other, accelerating personal and professional development and fostering a community of forward-thinking individuals who can drive change and innovation within their respective spheres.
There are already active networks for CEOs, COOs, HR and marketing/content creators. We are looking to set up similar networks for CFOs, developers and other roles.
You are welcome to join both existing networks that are already rolling, or future networks that we want to set up. Contact us with your job title, and we will find a suitable network for you to join.
Join the Rebel Slack Community to discuss and network with other rebels, and get notifications about new events, service updates and news.
